Sure Would Be Nice To Make This Happen.

."Congressional Reform Act of 2010

1. Term Limits: 12 years only, one of the possible options below.

A. Two Six year Senate terms
B. Six Two year House terms
C. One Six year Senate term and three Two Year House terms

2. No Tenure / No Pension:

A congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.

3. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security:

All funds in the Congressional retirement fund moves to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, Congress participates with the American people.

4. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan just as all Americans.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

5. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

6. Congress looses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

7. Congress must equally abide in all laws they impose on the American people.

8. All contracts with past and present congressmen are void effective 1/1/11.

The American people did not make this contract with congressmen, congressmen made all these contracts for themselves."

I can only Hope one day the American people stand up and Demand this. As we as citizens derserve this type of Congress. They have been taking advantage for to long with out any recourse as to there Actions. Please keep this conversation going as we the people need this type of Reform.

Good comment Josie, Thanks for stopping bye.
I think between the two of us we could get congress straightened out.

I like this and think it would be good to have in place.

The US Supreme Court in US Term Limits Inc vs Thornton (1995) said that States can not impose term limits on federal offices. So this maybe an way to change that by Congress passing a law that defines term length.

I also wonder if the 17th Amendment (direct election of senators) has an impact. If the 17th Amendment were repealed we would revert to the State legislatures appointing Senators for a term.
Good find BlueGeorgia, thanks. I hadn't seen this before.

They would kill me the first day on the job.

Completely agree.

I can say with absolute certitude that this will never happen, sadly. They would feel like they were shooting off their foot. We "need" them because of their "expertise" and the rest of us are just too dumb to know the ways of the world. Things are different in these times and they like the rest of us have to support families, special interests, lovers, and their ego. There wouldn't be enough time to carry out agenda's (most favorable to them and their lobbyists). Also to "settle" scores and help their buddies outside get what they want. It would be nice if the Reforms did go through but how many of them will you find that would stand on those principles? None, they are all out for themselves, truth be known. Just ask any of them would they agree to the reforms and 10 out 10 would say no but they would candy-coat their answers, smart people will see through it. Its a scam going on there. The President is limited to two terms (guess who made that?) but (again!) these people can't take their own medicine.

Well that's two of us. lol

Count me in!
