It seems to me as if it takes two people to have a marriage

But it doesn't achieve anything. Two people marry to create a union of two people as one. Two minds, two bodies, two personalities in a glorious binding of souls. One person married to themself is just ONE!

i would think, if you was single and you truly was happy with yourself and everything in your life being married to yourself would be fine, just means no other person is needed

OK.... but then, stay single. Don't twist the concept of "marriage" to fit a stupid little idea just so they "feel" better.

Hmmm ... "don't twist the concept of marriage". Interesting way to put it Tom. So you don't like her twisting your concept of marriage? How does that bother you? Why does it bother you?
Personally, I don't understand what she is doing and I cannot imagine ever marrying myself. Maybe she is simply making a statement to the world that she is happy being alone. If that's the case, then fine. I feel a little sad for her, but only because MY definition of happiness includes other people. Hers obviously doesn't and that is her choice.

I remember they said she was married to a guy but it didn't work out, so after the divorce she marry herself

I understand that people's concepts of marriage can vary but ALL of them involve more than one person. Any definition of marriage includes couples (gender aside). it's a binding, union, compact, alliance, merger, whatever you wanna call it but it's always "between" people, not "within" one. That's all I'm saying, Sweetie. And yes, I feel a bit sad for her too. But if it makes her happy, then good. I just struggle with her asking to be recognized as married to herself. Maybe if she was schizophrenic. j/k

What would be the point of that? That woman must be starved for attention, promoting a product/business, mentally ill, two of those three or all of those three.

Nope.... what's the sense in that? It's just stupid.
