I Want to Be a Cyborg
In the literal sense, sure, we are all already cyborgs, we use various technology of media and mechanics in every facet of our lives, to increase our communication, command, and control in our spheres of awareness and interaction with the physical and social worlds.
But I want to be a physical technologically augmented cyborg.
I want to augment myself with physical technological enhancements, starting with a simple basic monocular HMD (one that doesnt cut off half of my vision and make me look like a borg escapee) so preferably a nice transparent one. eventually I'll want one with augmented reality enhancements, preferably an eyetracker, some kind of hd camera with autozoom, and other goodies.
But for now just a basic hmd hooked up to my mobile internet computer.
Also I would like a little uav drone to fly above me at all times so I can see whats going on around me, and to provide backup if needed, and fetch me a cup of coffee and other miscellanea
Theres hundreds of other enhancements and augmentations on my wishlist, for which my budget is currently non-optimized.
The underlying motive of the desire to be a cyborg (in my opinion) is the same drive that motivates all of human creativity, and which can also of course drive destruction. The fine line between the desire for self-actualization and the extreme of desire of unrestrained power. It is the drive to take what there is and to improve it, to increase it, to made it better, faster, stronger, more human than human. And as we enter the era of the cyborg, and the enhancements in awareness, perception, and physiology that such technology will offer, well... **** the luddites and their ignorance
