I Want to Be a Doctor

I'm Starting Late In Life

Right now I'm in a community college studying Medical Assisting, which I plan to work in while furthering my schooling. I'm 20 years old and will not be finished with my AAS until I am 22. Some day I want to be an Obstetrician or Pediatrician, but I haven't decided which one. I have always be a musical/artistic person, until I started working at my current job taking care of people with disabilities. It made me do a double take on my life. I realized I just wanted to help people and that is what I am doing but, I want it to be something broader. I want to be able to help others on a bigger scale. And I love children and admire mothers.

Any thoughts on what I should do or if I can still get my degree in a decent amount of time?

    You are certainly considering medicine for the right reasons! And you sound like you would make a wonderful, perhaps unconventional doctor (Which is needed!). I would just say that I hope you are equally considering things like the academic demands, the competition, the sacrifice...the 'not so pretty side' of wanting to be a doctor. There are a lot of other ways that you could positively impact someone's life!
    I am currently in the middle of my first application cycle :)
