Being a Mom Is One of My Goals...

Being a mom is one of my goals.  I am not sure of how it is going to fit into my career plans.  I want to be an engineer, as well as a mother.  I don't want to put my kids in day care all day, but I also don't know if I can not work and feel fulfilled.  Though right not the college experience on the way to my career isn't very fulfilling either.  I guess we will see.

I was in school to be an engineer and was on the same boat. I ended up deciding I really didn't like the engineering very much, and it just wasn't that important to me. I was worried about not feeling fulfilled too, but then I thought about why I felt that way. I think society really puts an emphasis on work and plays up the fact that that's where we should get our fulfillment from and that if we don't there's something wrong. I disagree, I think there's plenty of work to be done when you're a mother. That being said, there's some careers where you can work from home, with your own hours part time or full time. So when your husband comes home or your kid naps you can work. These include medical billing/coding or medical transcription. You could even start your own home-based daycare if you like to be with groups of kids. Good luck with your decisions :)
