You Can Not Be Part Of The Rapture

I study history. In it I find instances of false rapture predictions starting about 1840 with a fanatic named Miller. Much, much earlier in Christian history there were instances of ill-informed people predicting and expecting the immediate 2nd coming--and they sold off everything they had. They were disappointed. Eventually, the Church discouraged speculation about the exact time of the 2nd coming. There was never any rapture belief either. The Rapture is an idea and term conjured-up by 7th day adventists less than 200 years ago, the idea spread among churches and denominations that were self-governing. This teaching is patently false and based on one contextually misapplied verse.



This teaching has been the source of untold harm and upset among Christians. It produces a sickening pessimism that has no part in a Christians life and it flies in the face of Christs message in the Sermon on the Mount where he implores his followers to not worry about the next day.



I grew up in an Evangelical Church and was gravely affected by pre-mill teaching. I am presently considering conversion to the Roman Catholic Church. I was shocked to discover that Cardinal Newman, a Protestant to RC convert said: "the study of history is the antidote to Protestantism".

I had been thinking the same thing for a few years. I've had a love of history since I was 7 years old and I think I now know the purpose and reason it was inculcated at such a tender age.



To the writer of the story--where on earth and heaven have you found your history?

i think you are mistaken about this. if you are not the millians are being fooled about this event.

I personally am waiting to be twinkled. It says you will be changed in the twinkling of an eye.
