I Want to Beat Anorexia
As a small child I was average weight, but when I moved to Texas I had no friends, so food became my best friend. At first, I didn't notice my weight gain, but in 4th grade, a boy called me fat. I haven't had an ounce of self-confidience since. The summer after 6th grade my mother encouraged me to buy a bikini. I went into the dressing room to try one on and I was horrified by what I saw. I was determined to change. By the time 7th grade started I had left behind my tomboyish ways for layers of makeup. After a few weeks of athletics, I had already lost a few pounds. Due to my rapid weight loss, a girl accused me of being anorexic. I had no idea what this meant, so I went home and looked it up. This is how I became anorexic.
I started at 5'4" 120 pounds.
End of 7th grade- 5'7" 110 pounds
End of 8th grade- 5'8" 102 pounds
End of 9th grade- 5'9" 96 pounds
I was wasting away when I met him. I was at an all time low of 96 pounds, I was suppose to be happy, but I wasn't at all. Eating each day is still a struggle, but I'm back up to about 110 pounds. My boyfriend has saved me life. He has given me something to live for. I promised him I'd eat three meals a day for the next 10 years, and I intend to keep my promise. He has convinced me that I am beautiful, because I am, and so are you.
