It's Really Not Rocket Science

Religion and the way people feel about God, generally shapes their way of life....how they act/think/feel etc.

That is why it is so important to them.

A belief in God usually underlines that we are all brothers and sisters and related to each other spiritually. So when they try to get you to believe the same they seee that they are trying to help you as a friend and relative along the path to enlightenment.

Battles and wars fought in the name or religion actually have nothing to do with God....they use God to further political motivations.

Those who believe in God, have no *attachment* to land or country, because the journey here on earth is a short temporary one during which we learn many things and build character traits...it is all we take with us when we die.

People who have committed to a lifestyle around the Gospel of Jesus Christ, would love to see their friends and family embrace the same beliefs because they have an eternal perspective of the relationship. It is here that i believe many people are
over zealous and appear to * push beliefs* upon others.

Yet they forget that the primary reason for this journey on earth is to exercise FREE WILL, God wants us to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ by free choice ONLY

Thank you c8lorraine. If people would actually follow Christs example, then they would have to display forgiveness, compassion, no judgement, etc. I am with you in that we all are of one body and to me, how we treat each other reveals our alignment with the creative spirit. Bless you.

you are most welcome

very well said. thanks for sharing

Wow some very good comments and and intelligent debate is taking place. No *name-calling * or discriminating against individuals for having different opinions.<br />

Empty Souls said...."It's like if people are going away on holiday. Some travel by car, some by coach, some by plane, and some by boat, and they may all think their method of travel is the best. But they all experience a journey which leads them in the same direction :) The truth is, the journey is the one best suited to them..."<br />

I like that !

I don't agree. There will be no life in heaven like has been taught for so many years.<br />
<br />
This physical life you seem to disregard will come around to you again when you are resurrected. If chosen, you will spend 1000 years learning how to plow a filed as opposed to learning war. <br />
<br />
Then after that the rest of the dead will live, you included if you are not chosen for the millennium. Then Satan will be released again to set up his kingdom for a final battle.<br />
<br />
The world you seem to hate is the world Jesus is coming back to redeem.

@Lorraine What you said " the primary reason for this journey on earth is to exercise FREE WILL, God wants us to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ by free choice ONLY" makes a lot of sense. It's God's nature to give everyone free choice. Of course what we do with that free will choice is what is going to affect our residence and relationship with Him for all eternity.<br />

Love is the main attribute that God wants us to live out. We are even told to love our enemies. However God is a jealous God and He also tells us many other things like not to worship false gods. God is not only Love, but He is also Just and He is also Holy. We too should be holy and not follow after other gods as many people suggest. There are many loving mothers who have loved their children straight to hell, spoiling them rotten and leading them to only care about themselves and to reject the God who created them.<br />
<br />
The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob made it so that when those who love Hm die in the flesh, they would go to be with Him, and those who don't love Him will go to a place of torment. The journey best suited to everyone ever born is not down the broad ways that lead to destruction, but the straight and narrow path that is less traveled that leads to the Celestial City.

The destination, the goal is all the same. It's just the journey that differs.<br />

Most religions teach love for one another (And Gods/Gods too). It's all about the love!

True.... I think that we are all not that far from the same philosophy....love and respect for each other !

Of course they are humans.<br />
I can understand universal love, and other supposedly Christian experiences, what do you think of other philosophies, like Asian spiritual traditions? There's a lot to learn from them, too.

The torture you speak of may be "in the name of God" but God would have no part of it because it goes against everything He stands for. It is MAN using God for his own political shallow gain.<br />
<br />
religion or church services, are really just a gathering of like-minded people. They don't always agree with each other, they are human, just like families are a group of relatives, bound together by common thread but sometimes bicker and disagree.... it's all part of this human experience<br />

But people have beheaded, burnt, tortured, lapidated in the name of it. <br />
You can act kindly without entering any cult.
