How My 1st Book Came to Be?

I had a recurring dream that repeated probably once every week or two and because I had always heard if you want to get rid of a recurring dream put it on paper.

So I did.  A few days later, I had another dream with the same people in it. doing and saying different things. So I added it.

This continued for a few months and before I knew it I had over 50,000 words.  I finally asked my husband to read it and to my surprise...He liked it.  (This is a man that reads law books for fun.  Boring!)  Anyway, I asked a couple other people to read it and everyone convinced me to get it published.

I went on the internet and there are dozens of publishers that will publish anything you want as long as you pay them.  Well, believe me, I had no money.  I had trouble keeping my lights on at the time, but I did find one that was sort of a broker for big publishers.

I filled out their little questionaire and a few days later the emailed me back and asked me to send them a couple of chapters.  I did.  A few more days they asked me to send my manuscript.  I did.

A week or so later, I recieved a phone call telling me they were sending me a sample contract and to look it over.  They wanted to publish me!

Needless to say I was excited beyond belief.  The rest is history.
