I know these posts are from a long time ago but I would bet the reason for dogs chewing everything in sight all the time is because they are bored. You have to walk them when they are at this stage of development once or twice a day. Try to do things to stimulate them. Throw balls for them outside even in winter time. Put peanut butter in Kong toys when you leave the house so the dog will be doing a fun, healthy, nondestructive activity, try to get the dog to play with other dogs outside to burn off all this energy. Whatever it takes. I realize its not easy. I have a lab as well and you learn to adjust.

i have a Golden Retriever .From 8 months to maybe 2 yrs she was Destructo -Dog!The rule of thumb is "they grow out of it by the age of 3". More or less. Amala's advice is the way to go! If they have no chewtoys, they will improvize!

I went through that with my lab. In order to keep her safe, we crated her when she couldn't watched. Heck, she ate things even when she was being watched. LOL

All I can say, is that they do grow out of it. Sometime around 2 1/2, she started to slow down. She's 6 now, and occasionally eats something she shouldn't, but it's not the constant challenge we had before.

BTW, labs are considered puppies until they are at least 4.

    Good luck.
