Working On It.

I want to go vegan, but i know I don't have the resources right now to go vegan.  I'm still in college, with no job (which means no groceries), and I live in an apartment of meat eaters.  I've been in and out of vegetarianism for almost four years.  I recently saw Alicia Silverstone speak on becoming a vegan and it changed my perspective on them, she didn't proclaim me to be stupid or a terrible vegan if you were just trying it out and "being a flirt".  I plan on still being a vegan but I'm going to wait until I have the resources not to cheat.

Often we find ourselves in a position that we are unable to follow our desires. If I were in your position I would stick as close to my goal as possible, till I could afford to switch to it entirely. I noticed FL is basically doing that. I have read several of her stories and she has a great inner compas that serves her well. Hopefull you do as well.

I totally understand that......last year I was in a relationship with a Vegan and he turned me all the way. Now after breaking up with him I am still interested in the clean and ethical way of the Vegan but I broke down a few times and had cheesy things here and there just because they are more easily accessible. I do have to go out of my way to be vegan although I do believe it's the way I want to live I was out of work for a long time and now I have a part time job so it has been easier to get back to the vegan lifestyle because I can shop for prepared foods. It is really time consuming to be both single and working and I don't have as much time to prepare things like seitan. It is nice to be able to buy them....also I like the ice cream and the cheeses better. They feel cleaner to consume and make my body feel so much better than their dairy counterparts. Plus I think I'm lactose intolerant so it is definitely better.

I'd say just try and do it gradually, most of my family don't even know that I am trying to become a vegan. Its a process!... When I go over for lunch I usually take a bit of everything and then only eat the veggies and bread! I am also trying to be a vegan on a tight budget, but there are many super recipes out there that are cheap and easy. Just try a little bit at a time and you will see it can be done! Dont be too hard on yourself! All the best!
