Warmth

A soft sigh is released from her chapped lips. Light is scattered between the blinds and they paint images of fairies, dancing when the wind blows. Her shivering body wraps the blankets tighter around her, keeping her safe in a cocoon. She feels her expression sour when the cold starts seeping into her bones. Without a sound, arms slowly wrap themselves around her waist, as if they were meant to be there all along. A soft serene smile sets itself on her face, the crinkle of her brows ease back. She lets her back sink into the body behind her, fitting together like a puzzle. She feels slow deep breaths near her ear, and hears soft murmurings of love and safety. The cold is long forgotten, leaving her to feel the warmth of that beating heart. It makes her eyelids heavy and she wonders if this is what forever means. Before fading into the sweet sleep, she whispers, "I love you."
