Old Woman. Lunch Time. In Our Restaurant.

It was 3 years ago. It was our school break and my dad told me to handle our restaurant for 2 weeks.

It was lunch time and i was sitting at the customer's table listening to music. Then an old woman came in. She looked rugged. You'll know that she lives on the street. I just watched her at first. She went to the counter and she was handing something over to our waitress. Then i think our waitress told her to go away. I was curious so i went to the counter and checked what was going on. The old woman told me she wants to eat and she'll pay but for only Php5.00. She's willing to pay and not just to ask for food but that's all she got.

She was really old, she was kinda weak, but still she was smiling. I always get soft every time i see an old man/woman who needs help. So i told her, "Keep your money and sit at a table. What do you want for lunch?" She answered "Just a few rice and veggies." I think she's shy that's why she told me FEW. but then i told our waitress to give her some soup and a real meal.

After she ate, she went to me, held my hand, smiled and thanked me. Deep inside, i felt so happy! The happiness was really different. It's like I felt at peace and everything turned out positive. It was the best feeling i felt!

She kept coming back during lunch time, and our waitress knew what to do. I just kept welcoming her to our restaurant.

Then the very last time she went there, she gave me a gift. I was touched. She had nothing but still, she got something for me. It was a fresh fish wrapped in a plastic bag. I accepted it and thanked her. She was smiling. After that day, she never came back. I don't know what happened to her and I hope she's okay.

. . . let us LOVE one another. =)

Cancel feels so nice doing something for someone.

This is a really nice story, thanks for sharing it. I really admire what you have done.

Good for you for your kindness. I would love to know that the woman is alright.

I know when you feel that happy that you just want to keep it going so you do something for someone.

great story! it is a great feeling when you help a stranger! specily someone like her that can realy use the help!

That's such a wonderful story!! Oh wow, thank you for sharing that!

It reminds me of, what was it, Groundhog Day? Bill Murray is being forced to relive a single day over and over again until he learns something. There is an old begger he sees every day, and as much to dull the monotony as anything, he decides to follow him. The old man doesn't last the night. For the next six or so 'days,' Murray treats him to meals, gets him hotel rooms, new clothes, doctor's visits, blankets, money, anything he can think of. No matter what he does, the man never makes it to tomorrow. But always has the most grateful smile whenever Murray helps him. When I saw it, it really put it into perspective. You don't always get a second chance to do something good for someone. And maybe.. the fact that you care means more than what impact you have.

Beautiful story!

You showed pure kindness to this old woman you shall go far, kindness is a thing worth more than gold.

very beautiful story.

you have a gd heart i wish there could be more people like you (: thankyou

God works in mysterious ways, for when we feed the poor, we feed God.

God works in mysterious ways, for when we feed the poor, we feed God.

congrulatulation for you Iamiliza... and perhaps that's what called HAPPY.. ;)

that's great when we see people who has white heart like yours ,,,just you can look at streets everytime u'll find those who r in need of clothes, food, talk, and even smiles

To give and to receive is really the same as you experienced here. Now you know.

***some faith in humanity is restored***

Beautiful story thank you for sharing

I needed that story. And I needed it right now.... thank you! You helped another person with only the tale of such kindness.

It was a wonderfull thing that u did and the right thing to do.
You can feel that wonderfull happy feeling everyday just carry on giveing every day . It's that easy.

That is a big thing you have done there... When people eat, they feel so happy and that makes us happier.... Please continue your good deed..... !!!!!'re so beautiful. Jesus said "There is more happiness in giving than there is recieving" (Acts 20:35) and you just proved it. Imagine a world where everyone would be like that. <3

thats a true act of kindness.its the little things we do that change the world.yet she had little but gave you something ,thats true gratitude.if the world had many people like you it would have been a better place.keep the love

what a lovely thing you did its the small things that we do that change the world.yet she had so little but managed to give you something ,true gratitude,if the world had many people like you it would be a better place.keep the love going

You have a good heart!

That was a great thing you did and God going to bless you over and over with all his blessings. You have a big heart. God Blessings to you.

thats right He is

ohh baby your God will bless you! but as 4 me i keep doing bad to people cuz they pay me gud 4 bad keep it up nice....xxxx but still NO LOVE

So nice of you, Around y area, people like that usually get kicked out. When I'm buying food sometimes people come into the restaurants and ask for change just to buy anything they can afford. If i have extra money on me I get them something to eat, I know how it feels to be hungry. I once gave a bum my sandwich & he even ate the napkins.. heartbreaking but he appreciated it

You will truly be rewarded for your kindness one day... I wish there were more people in the world like you...true angels on Earth!!!

Great story, you are a wonderful person!~

That's a good way to be. It's safe to assume that everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle, so be more kind than is necessary and at the very least you've gained experience doing so.

I like to help people as well. I've always been that way. A few days ago, I was driving home at night and saw a 19 yr old girl crying and pulling luggage in the cold along the side of the road. I picked her up and let her cry and tell me her story, then took her to her friend's house. When I got home, I no longer had a cell phone. That's what I get when I do good deeds. Quite typical for me really. I am glad you were left with a positive experience. That is how it should be. My kharma is confused I think.

that melted my heart and made me cry.....good for you for doing that!!

That was a very nice story. You are so kind. You are a very caring person which we need more of you in this lifetime. Thank you.

You're on of the good people in this world. We could use more like you. Thank you for sharing the wonderful story. It made me feel good, too! God Bless You for your kindness.

I really enjoy this story. It made me smile. It's good to know that people like you are still out there. This is so inspiring. Thank you!

its a great feeling only known to those who give from within.tell you what i am no preacher but what you give gorws many times and comes back.

Good story :)

It was lovely to read this. Thank you.

Gestures of kindness that may seem small to the giver, can be a huge deal for the receiver. You could have helped this elderly woman more than you know.

At the least, those meals that you provided her would have brought her comfort. Something that we take for granted. However, it is possible that those meals provided her with enough nourishment for her to be able to think properly (I know that if I skip a meal, I can't think straight) and perhaps she was able to come up with a plan, and the motivation to get out of her situation -something that is hard to do when you can't think straight from lack of food! Maybe not, but it is possible.

Either way, a small gesture on your behalf would have been a big deal to this woman and I am sure that she would be forever grateful.

Thank you for sharing the story and an even bigger thank you for your kindness. Sometimes I think the world and the people in it is becomeing an evil place. Then I read stories like this one and realize that there are still kind people out there. It gives me hope.

Not only have you given hope to this elderly woman, you have given hope to the many people who have read your story. This is how small gestures of kindness can change the world.

thanks you for your wonderful comment. i am very touched. =)

You have a wonderfull kind heart and God can really use you.
To get and keep that warm and calm feeling just continue to be yourself on a day to day basis just help where u can in as much as smile at a stranger, buy flowers and give them to somebody who looks like they need cheering up, give compliments even to people u don't know or in a line waiting to pay for your groceries pay for the person infront of you. I did that once for a young woman who I could see was batteling in life and she was buying baby nappies and baby powder and one bottle of food. I started a conversation with her about her baby and when the cashier asked for the money I just gave it to the young Mom with a smile and said I will get that. She gave me the biggest smile and said REALLY? Have a great day!

Beautiful story. I think You've made a great impact in her life.

yes id rather give to people by giving them food or clothing in stead of giving money to a corporation.... but i gusse if you have big money then u have to give to the big buss.... to get a tax break

Good for you thses are the feelings that come from being selfless and you can not pay any amount off money to receive this This feeling is God given and helping others in our community is what we are put on this earth for God Bless you and may your story inspire others to do the same

This is a beautiful story, thanks for sharing it. It made me think about what I do for others you are a wonderful person.

That's an inspiring story, iameliza!! Thank you for sharing it. . .

She died in peace. What a lesson to learn.

You didn't eat that fish did you? Because that was a magic fish.

What a wonderful story! Your kindness is sure to have touched at least two lives-- the old woman's and your own.

You are truly a wonderful person. You DO what you know is right.

You are very kind and helpful, And remember everyone respect your elders!

I was reading through your story and thought I would say (and i am not embaraced to say this) it brought a tear to my eye, not so much as in a sad way but more in a happy way.

I hope your dreams come true :0)

Well done. That was a lovely thing to do and more people should behave that way.

This kind of story brings tears to my eyes...
thank you

U made me smile. God will surely bless you. You sounded so pure hearted

YES - EXACTLY. I first thought about the fish symbol and then my mind wandered to the fish and loaves story. Blesed one - You were touched by an Angel !

The fish is an age old symbol of Christ. She was probably an angel.

I am always to one that would stop and help someone broken down on the side of the road. Even if it was nothing more then to offer a phone call for them. Then one day I found myself in that position. A fan belt broke and my car overheated. I was the on broken down on the side of the road. Car after car went past with now even bothering to look in my direction. Then a car stopped to offer help. It was a young couple with a young baby. Of all of the cars that went past they had the most reason not to stop. They offered me a ride to a auto parts store and then offered to drive me back to my car. I wanted to give them money for gas and the time spent but they turned it down. There reason ? As they were rushing to the hospital when she was due. They had gotten a flat tire. Someone driving a pickup truck like mine stopped to help them change the tire that they could not get off. They felt that they had to offer help to someone else as a pay back for that kindness. Then it dawned on me I was the one that change that tire.
Small gentle gestures can make a large impression in someones life when they are in need. Past on that impression. God bless.

Exactly this kind of stuff is what world needs the most today. A good heart brings joy to everyone involved, just like in your story!

I know that exact feeling. I don't believe people help others solely to get something in return. It's truly a great feeling when you help someone who really needs it and then you see them happy...

You're no doubt a very kind and caring person. I hope someone helps you in return when you need it!

What a wonderful story. I think it is terrific that you helped the woman out when she was hungry and didn't have much money. I know that you were as blessed as she was by your actions. It really is a tremendous feeling to help others. I know I do quite a bit of volunteer work at Veteran's and children's hospitals since i have retired and it is very rewarding. I have also bought a meal or food for people who ask for money for food. I won't give them cash because sadly all too often they use the money for drugs or alcohol and I refuse to support anyone's habit. But if they are really hungry I will feed them and that makes me as happy as it makes them.

I bet you gave God a smile.

haha.. ma friend.. am so glad to meet u in ma life... U did a fantastic Job.. and had been paid for it... that is the "Real Happiness".. This world need a lot more people like you to take care of orphans...Have this kind attitude till u die... All will be well for you... Try to help more like this... plzzzz... coz.. they need you...!

Thank you for your good deed. Anyone can wind up in the street. Five Philippine pesos is like twenty American cents. Your acts of kindness may have saved her life or helped her live a bit longer.

thats absolutely beautiful! you never know..she was probably an angel in disguise ;)

That is such a beautiful story! xxx

its always good 2 know ur appreciated. as a cna often i serve ppl, but go home feeling hated... when they let u know it counts, that always helps =)

great story, So nice to know that there are still kind people in the world. That the world itself hasn't made you cold.

That's so lovely. :)

Believe you will love it.
We accept any form of payment

That's really quite sweet. i think its rare for people to do such things nowadays.

php is philippine peso isnt it....

I know the feeling. Just a little help makes me feel good. We may have our own personal reasons to want to feel that way, but so what? Instead of getting a buzz out of shopping, you may get a buzz out of helping others in need, which is much more useful and rewarding. It serves a purpose and it justifies many of the misfortunes we go through in life sometimes.

This made me cry, I'm glad there are still truly kind-hearted people in the world
