Old Woman. Lunch Time. In Our Restaurant.

It was 3 years ago. It was our school break and my dad told me to handle our restaurant for 2 weeks.

It was lunch time and i was sitting at the customer's table listening to music. Then an old woman came in. She looked rugged. You'll know that she lives on the street. I just watched her at first. She went to the counter and she was handing something over to our waitress. Then i think our waitress told her to go away. I was curious so i went to the counter and checked what was going on. The old woman told me she wants to eat and she'll pay but for only Php5.00. She's willing to pay and not just to ask for food but that's all she got.

She was really old, she was kinda weak, but still she was smiling. I always get soft every time i see an old man/woman who needs help. So i told her, "Keep your money and sit at a table. What do you want for lunch?" She answered "Just a few rice and veggies." I think she's shy that's why she told me FEW. but then i told our waitress to give her some soup and a real meal.

After she ate, she went to me, held my hand, smiled and thanked me. Deep inside, i felt so happy! The happiness was really different. It's like I felt at peace and everything turned out positive. It was the best feeling i felt!

She kept coming back during lunch time, and our waitress knew what to do. I just kept welcoming her to our restaurant.

Then the very last time she went there, she gave me a gift. I was touched. She had nothing but still, she got something for me. It was a fresh fish wrapped in a plastic bag. I accepted it and thanked her. She was smiling. After that day, she never came back. I don't know what happened to her and I hope she's okay.

. . . let us LOVE one another. =)

Thanx for sharing this..indeed i can relate to you.God bless you..

great! Youy are a peach!

you do have a kind heart...haha

What a lovely thing to do and if there were more people like you the world would be a much better place.

You are a wonderful girl.
It is a pleasure to know you.

hi Pixiedaisy! thank you. =) try it, really! the feeling is so unique.

That was moment where i was kinda lonely in life but every time the old woman was there, I feel happy. She makes me happy. She helped me too. =)

you have a beautiful heart :)

you are awesome. this is the way to be all the time.

hi ilmk, thank you. =)

This is lovely, its made my evening I know that feeling too, and its great, your a wonderful soul, I think the old lady is in a better place because YOU cared. :)

Okay. I'll admit it. I'm choked up. In my 20's, I'd have done much the same as you. Age and cynicism have taken their toll and of late, those in need have become barely visible to me. I suppose I could have read any similar story and felt this way -- but as it happens, I've read yours. Thank you for the reawakening.

I know just how you feel.

What a wonderful act of selflessness. You have a warm and caring heart. You will surely be blessed in return.

- always do the right thing, even when no one is looking -

Thanks guys.. =)

You are wonderful sister iameliza,
What you have don is very good lesson for others to take care of the needy people, which will leed us for happier life, and peaceful world.
God bless you.

u have fulfilled God's desire for mankind..u lend to God when u helped the poor
bless u darling!

When people are down, who goes out to help them?
A sick person in hospital, a cripple lying in the street, a leper shunned...........you name it, everywhere human beings are ignoring one another.

Imagine how each would feel when someone is kind to them?

They would feel the touch of God through the person.

The person would feel on the top of the world.

Both ways, its a beautiful relationship.....Keep loving one another as Jesus loves you.

God bless you.

You know that old woman was led there because you were there. It was obviously a test, and you passed.

The world is a better place because of you.

thats realy kool now is it realy that hard to help someone,i dont think so.

I think it is true that "a little kindness now and then can help heal the world". Bless you and those like you who can have compassion and empathy for another human being in this world.

I am happy to have helped save the life of a very nice woman, who later helped save my life. We are now married and inseparable. She is not only my wife, but my best friend.

Cast your bread upon the waters....
really? wow! that's sweet! i wanna know your story! =)

Whoa! I somehow believe in these type of stories, that the woman was God. Or at least, she is a messenger from God to test whether you love Him. And you did the right thing! Thanks for sharing this, I really love the fact that it is real and it really happened, not just in religious stories.
Your happiness is a blessing from God.

uggh:

really? I haven't realized that until now! =)

yeah, it's a blessing and it's really great. =)

It's like the story where there is a beggar asking for a place to sleep, then the house owner just shoo away the beggar, then God said, the house owner has refused God.
Have a good day. :)

Hi Kindal, thank you for appreciating it. =) HUGS

...and don't forget: what goes around, comes around!
we need to circulate all the positive energy we can.
Way to go!

Amazing. It's hard to find people like that, but it's so inspiring when I do

aww. wow what a touching story. helping someone who is indeed need of your help, is always good. my mother always says " if you help someone who is in need of your help, something good will return to you." i always tell myself that. but good for you. your story just made my day.

That is wonderful, and touching. It sounds like you are in the Philippines? When I went last year with my wife I went out of my way to help people - I would be happy if I could help them every day. I hope you never loose that part of yourself - you are an inspiration to people all over the world!

your right about one thing for sure, there is no better feeling in the world then knowing you did something out of kindness and it made a difference to someone.

Such a nice story :). You are truly an inspiration to us

Hello iameliza, that was a very inspiring story that you shared here. I wish that your intention to help will still continue with the others. We might meet a kind of person like you as we go with our livelihood plan to the commmunity. God Bless to you and to others who in some ways help the people in need.

hi Eddie88boy, we live in the same country! =) Thanks, and i will surely continue helping as long as i can. see you when i see you!

Hello iameliza, which part of the Philippines do you live? I was thinking that you were from Mexico, since they also have the same currency that we have. But its nice to have people around like you.

Beautiful story! Your kindness shows not just by feeding her but also accepting her gift so graciously.

Your story brought tears to my eyes, good on the old lady to ask for food saying what she could pay, good on you for accepting and giving her more.

I like places where people pay what they can afford, the place always does well because of the generous spirit of the place.
frito414: thanks. It was so nice of her to give me a gift. =)

OrangeTas: yeah, thank you. =)

Hello iameliza, ok manila, I am from Cebu City. Anyway you can still have your heart nice. Thanks for the help. mabuhay ka, I always like that kind of heart of yours.

I know that feeling. And a smile in there face is all the reward u need. I help whenever i can and I dont sit there and judge..why ? because whos to say that one day that might be us askin for sum spare change or a helping hand or a bite to eat. Nothing in life is guaranteed except death lol

Bright beams

That is a wonderful story and thanks for sharing. You were great as well!:)

awe...this made me cry such a wonderful person u are...there should be more like u.

This is from the Good Book

Hebrews 13:2 "Don't forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!"

Very well u could count your blessing

@mommie06: thank you.. =)

@slova: wow, i didn't know that. =)

@judyfaye: thanks. =)

ur going to heaven for this doing

still an amazing happening
love you
It seems u get happy seeing people praising you. Take care the wish of getting praise do not become the sole motive of such acts.

Thats what life is all about, nothing comes close to what you have felt.

thanks you are truly a blessing and i know everyone that read your story was touch.may GOD continue to smile on u.and may i say GOD bless your family for raising u in the way of GOD's word.train up a child in the it shall go GOD bless and continue to b a blessing !

That was just beautiful. I dont know where you stand as far as religious matters go, but I believe sometimes angels come to us in human form, maybe to test our attitudes. who knows, she could have been an Angel, but even if she was nothing more than what she appeared to be, You did something so wonderful for that lady. You gave her a rare and precious gift ~ kindeness.

thats the spirit of a cheerful giver. continue in your cheerful giving. god bless your soul.

your story is an inspiration to us all.hope it sticks with us until WE find the ones we have to help.

This made me cry, I'm glad there are still truly kind-hearted people in the world

I know the feeling. Just a little help makes me feel good. We may have our own personal reasons to want to feel that way, but so what? Instead of getting a buzz out of shopping, you may get a buzz out of helping others in need, which is much more useful and rewarding. It serves a purpose and it justifies many of the misfortunes we go through in life sometimes.

That's really quite sweet. i think its rare for people to do such things nowadays.

I loved reading your story........if only there were more people in the world like you. These small acts of kindness can make such a huge difference to peoples lives.........thanks for sharing.

Thats so kind..there should be more people like you willing to let judgement go to see someones worth past their appearance.

You are a good man. I think the old lady is in a better place because you card.

how touching i loved this story and you sound like a very kind person

That's so lovely. :)

great story, So nice to know that there are still kind people in the world. That the world itself hasn't made you cold.

its always good 2 know ur appreciated. as a cna often i serve ppl, but go home feeling hated... when they let u know it counts, that always helps =)

That is such a beautiful story! xxx

thats absolutely beautiful! you never know..she was probably an angel in disguise ;)

haha.. ma friend.. am so glad to meet u in ma life... U did a fantastic Job.. and had been paid for it... that is the "Real Happiness".. This world need a lot more people like you to take care of orphans...Have this kind attitude till u die... All will be well for you... Try to help more like this... plzzzz... coz.. they need you...!

I bet you gave God a smile.

What a wonderful story. I think it is terrific that you helped the woman out when she was hungry and didn't have much money. I know that you were as blessed as she was by your actions. It really is a tremendous feeling to help others. I know I do quite a bit of volunteer work at Veteran's and children's hospitals since i have retired and it is very rewarding. I have also bought a meal or food for people who ask for money for food. I won't give them cash because sadly all too often they use the money for drugs or alcohol and I refuse to support anyone's habit. But if they are really hungry I will feed them and that makes me as happy as it makes them.

Exactly this kind of stuff is what world needs the most today. A good heart brings joy to everyone involved, just like in your story!

I know that exact feeling. I don't believe people help others solely to get something in return. It's truly a great feeling when you help someone who really needs it and then you see them happy...

You're no doubt a very kind and caring person. I hope someone helps you in return when you need it!

The fish is an age old symbol of Christ. She was probably an angel.

YES - EXACTLY. I first thought about the fish symbol and then my mind wandered to the fish and loaves story. Blesed one - You were touched by an Angel !

U made me smile. God will surely bless you. You sounded so pure hearted

This kind of story brings tears to my eyes...
thank you

Well done. That was a lovely thing to do and more people should behave that way.

I was reading through your story and thought I would say (and i am not embaraced to say this) it brought a tear to my eye, not so much as in a sad way but more in a happy way.

I hope your dreams come true :0)

You are very kind and helpful, And remember everyone respect your elders!

You are truly a wonderful person. You DO what you know is right.

What a wonderful story! Your kindness is sure to have touched at least two lives-- the old woman's and your own.

what a lovely story, and for your acts of kindness G od will reward you richly.

That's a great story. :) you are so sweet!

Great story thanks for sharing. You touched someones life. Made it easier for them.
