Old Woman. Lunch Time. In Our Restaurant.

It was 3 years ago. It was our school break and my dad told me to handle our restaurant for 2 weeks.

It was lunch time and i was sitting at the customer's table listening to music. Then an old woman came in. She looked rugged. You'll know that she lives on the street. I just watched her at first. She went to the counter and she was handing something over to our waitress. Then i think our waitress told her to go away. I was curious so i went to the counter and checked what was going on. The old woman told me she wants to eat and she'll pay but for only Php5.00. She's willing to pay and not just to ask for food but that's all she got.

She was really old, she was kinda weak, but still she was smiling. I always get soft every time i see an old man/woman who needs help. So i told her, "Keep your money and sit at a table. What do you want for lunch?" She answered "Just a few rice and veggies." I think she's shy that's why she told me FEW. but then i told our waitress to give her some soup and a real meal.

After she ate, she went to me, held my hand, smiled and thanked me. Deep inside, i felt so happy! The happiness was really different. It's like I felt at peace and everything turned out positive. It was the best feeling i felt!

She kept coming back during lunch time, and our waitress knew what to do. I just kept welcoming her to our restaurant.

Then the very last time she went there, she gave me a gift. I was touched. She had nothing but still, she got something for me. It was a fresh fish wrapped in a plastic bag. I accepted it and thanked her. She was smiling. After that day, she never came back. I don't know what happened to her and I hope she's okay.

. . . let us LOVE one another. =)

Good for you thses are the feelings that come from being selfless and you can not pay any amount off money to receive this This feeling is God given and helping others in our community is what we are put on this earth for God Bless you and may your story inspire others to do the same

yes id rather give to people by giving them food or clothing in stead of giving money to a corporation.... but i gusse if you have big money then u have to give to the big buss.... to get a tax break

Beautiful story. I think You've made a great impact in her life.

You have a wonderfull kind heart and God can really use you.

To get and keep that warm and calm feeling just continue to be yourself on a day to day basis just help where u can in as much as smile at a stranger, buy flowers and give them to somebody who looks like they need cheering up, give compliments even to people u don't know or in a line waiting to pay for your groceries pay for the person infront of you. I did that once for a young woman who I could see was batteling in life and she was buying baby nappies and baby powder and one bottle of food. I started a conversation with her about her baby and when the cashier asked for the money I just gave it to the young Mom with a smile and said I will get that. She gave me the biggest smile and said REALLY? Have a great day!

It was lovely to read this. Thank you.

Gestures of kindness that may seem small to the giver, can be a huge deal for the receiver. You could have helped this elderly woman more than you know.

At the least, those meals that you provided her would have brought her comfort. Something that we take for granted. However, it is possible that those meals provided her with enough nourishment for her to be able to think properly (I know that if I skip a meal, I can't think straight) and perhaps she was able to come up with a plan, and the motivation to get out of her situation -something that is hard to do when you can't think straight from lack of food! Maybe not, but it is possible.

Either way, a small gesture on your behalf would have been a big deal to this woman and I am sure that she would be forever grateful.

Thank you for sharing the story and an even bigger thank you for your kindness. Sometimes I think the world and the people in it is becomeing an evil place. Then I read stories like this one and realize that there are still kind people out there. It gives me hope.

Not only have you given hope to this elderly woman, you have given hope to the many people who have read your story. This is how small gestures of kindness can change the world.

thanks you for your wonderful comment. i am very touched. =)
