What Gives Me Great Joy...

I would like to share a story which I practice regulary and which gives me great joy. I always carry at least $3.oo in my car and also in my pocket. I save it for the first person who asks if I can spare some change. Smiling and maintining eye contact, I always respond very cheerfully with a comment like "Yes" I would love to or It will be my pleasure. And I give them the $3.00 . I then replace it with my next $3.00 for the next person who asks for it. Three dollars is a small amount yet it means alot to the person who expected 25 cents, especially, when delivered with joy and respect to them. I also have taken to carrying items that I think the needy may be able to use. I carry hats and socks and gloves. I put together some care packages for the homeless. It occurred to me that things like band-aids, toothpaste, asprin, combs as well as food would be of use. I imagined that they would need things to be non-breakable, so I chose plastic or paper contaniers. The folks who recieved them were delighted. But I think it"s not just that I give them things that matters. It"s that I see them for the beautiful ray of lights that they are. I know that they are unique expressions of the Divine and that this is how they are at the current time not who they are. I am glad to also give a hug and smile, with the money and I always remember it is they who bless me with an opporunity and to be kind what a joy.In fact, yesterday a yong lady to whom, I gave the $3.00 and a hat, "asked" if I cold use a spare pair of gloves she had. So I accepted them for the next person who needs them. I was touched that she wanted to give me something. She gave me more than she guesses.......Anto815

You are a beautiful soul! Have a nice day!

That is nice, and your telling it inspires others to be more generous so you are helping more people you will never see or know.

I hope you continue doing this .

Hi.. U r doing an excellent job, worthy of praise, truly... Everytime i go out, i take packets of biscuits n crisps to distribute to d needy children ... For me, its a very small gesture, but, d smiles on d kids faces is priceless ... The pleasure on their faces is itself a motivation to do more for d needy... A small gesture goes a long way.

I've been wanting to make car packages to keep in my car for awhile, problem is a need a car...and a licence, lol. Hopefully I'll get a truck next year and I can do the same thing. Its wonderful that you do this for people. I know it makes their day.<br />

@iamstillrighthere, OMG, I did the same thing with the hello kitty happy meals a few years ago. I always hate the thought of wasting food so I'm glad that I was able to find some people who needed food. Not that I'm glad they didn't have food and were homeless...oh I'm sure you get what I mean, lol.

Nice, I like what you said and what you are doing and what a nice idea. i like to help others also, i remember when beanie babies where the bomb and i bought sooooooo muchhhhhh macdonalds that i wanted to give the food to the homeless. i tried to find the ones who hung around in a certain part of our town but i never found anyone,. alot of it got trown away and that bothered me. mc donalds would not just charge u the price of the food and givve u a beanie you had to buy all of it. what a waste. what a waste. God bless you ...peace
