Improving EP #74 People Search.....Random Member.

Dear EP,

I have noticed when I go to the top of the page and click on PEOPLE and then click on random member in the drop down menu they are all "last seen" a while ago or last year and they haven't done much of anything at all. it seems to me that the random member search should maybe be filtered so that when you are seeking something new to read and relate to and maybe even comment on, it would be nice to see someone who is currently active on EP. I don't know if this is even possible, but I have done the random search on stories, confessions, and people and found that it is the same on them all. Mostly, the random ones bring up things that are so out of date and the members haven't been active in such a long while, that commenting on their stories would be like calling a disconnected phone number and having and leaving a message with the voice telling you the number is no longer in service. Random search is almost useless as it now stands.

Thanks for reading this. Even if nothing can be done about it, I feel better for having said it.

Yeaah great idea :) they could filter so people who havent been on for a month or more don't show up. Also u can't search by age, that could be changed..

Yes, looking for someone in an appropriate age group is a long painstaking process. That would be a good addition to the people search.

Oh, Marji, do you never go into the people search and pick a random member and read something that is interesting or touching and then you write a comment on it only to discover that they were *last seen* last year? If the *last seen* feature gets to the point where it says two months ago, or even longer, it shouldn't be a part of the random member search. Only get back on that search when they come back and do something with the account. <br />

I wrote this, hoping that EP support could change the way it works. Put on a filter that just allows random access to active members. I said that about feeling better for having said it, because, even if they can't change it, (and I am sure they could if they wanted to) at least I have had my say.

yeah, that is a pain. Like talking to someone only to find they have wandered into a store and you have been talking to yourself all that time.

Yes, I have often read long stories that I start to comment on and then see that they were written years ago
