Sorry you were so hurt. I tried to add you but the site wouldn't let me. If you want to check me out, read my story "Ingid Tells All". It's got (what I consider) some funny stuff in it that might put a smile on your face.

I had two friends who recently deleted their profiles. I liked them both very much, had some great, fun exchanges, and really enjoyed getting to know them. I had talked to them more than most. Then out of the blue one day they were gone with a single keystroke. I am so very disappointed. In each case, there was no warning nor goodbye, not that I deserved one. But it would have been nice. I know that people are on EP for many reasons. Everybody is looking for something. And I know that they have just as many reasons for leaving. It's always something personal. I respect that. But sometimes we forget how much those relationships that were forged over time were filling voids in someone else's life. The cruelest fact is the "scorched earth" nature of their departure. For when they hit that delete button, everything goes with them. Their whole EP footprint vanishes. No more inbox msgs. No more sent. As if they never existed. You can't even reminisce properly. And if you've exchanged some really great writing, as I did with them, then that's all gone forever. It's disappointing. But I certainly support your proposal to hesitate for a week. I'd also like it if EP would forewarn the intended deleter and all friends that it will be gone in a wisk. Unfortunately, however, that is exactly why some people, especially women, feel compelled to leave in a flash. They're trying to escape deviates and stalkers. I guess there are no easy solutions. Still, a warning to the deleter would allow him/her to PM prior those friends they most trust. Thanks for your story!

I know how you feel. I have lost people in a flash too. I deleted because I was hurt and used by someone. I should have taken a long break instead of deleting.

I did the same thing. I had some good pics, great stories, and lots of friends. I deleted the account and walked away. Now, I'm sorry. I wish there was some way to get all that back.

I'm sorry. I have tried to add people back but many won't add me back. :( I never dump people unless they are nasty to me.

And all this time, I thought you dumped me as a friend! Now, I understand! Always thought you seemed interesting! It's a bummer to think you lost all your EP, friends and experiences! Good to see your back!

Mehh, you're not stupid. I've thought about skedaddling a time or two myself.

    Well, anyway, glad you're back.

Hope you don't mind me saying, but, um... cute pic!

This is why I'm glad I gave my email to a select few , I can go on "vacation " and still keep in touch , share , photos , jokes and recipes . shame no one has come up with anything else like EP not even close .

I agree with Arsineh. It's better to just place the account on vacation, and we're sad when people leave, they're special and we enjoy them, and also we lose our stuff on here from people who delete their accounts, and they lose their stuff on here. I'm glad you decided to remain on here by starting another account immediately.

We're always sad to lose a member of this community. Often times members come back to EP within a week of deleting their account, regretting their decision to delete.

For this reason, we created the vacation option and do our best to explain to members how permanent the deletion option.

You may want to encourage friends who are thinking about deleting their account, to place it on vacation instead. It means more coming from an EP friend than a staff member they may not know personally.

I think there is a time where the person is so fed up and that delete button seems like the solution. Been there.

I think an "I'm Going" option next to "vacation" would be good idea so give chance for friends to help in changing mind!

No EParsineh sends you an E-mail afterwards for you to reconsider your choice on leaving... They send an e-mail as response as the "cooling off period". Did you not get one, that e-mail she send made me decide to stay after I did the same a while back.

Yes I did , but I still think a week would be nice to cool down. Sometimes it takes several days to let things sink in.
