Manipulating Ep's Web Site

I never know what to expect when I log on here?! I've won trophies and found them with "zippers" on them asking me to unzip it to see a prize? A few days ago while I was writing and commenting on stories, it would say "me" instead of my user name? I constantly get a message at the top of the screen saying "this web site wants to download Adobe Flash Player, click here if you trust the web site."
I guess all the social web sites will have this kinda problem, I dunno, but it's one of the reasons I left facebook. I don't like facebook, I like EP much better, but I worry what's going on every time I log on?
Why do people want to mess with a good thing? I hate seeing the website manipulated this way.

I'm too afraid to turn on a "beta test." I've only had one day of NOT having that "Adobe Flash" come on? Today is a new one. Now I'm getting "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer blocked this site from downloading files to your computer........what!? I think I'll just start sending private messages to figure it all out instead. Thank you EP. : )

I don't even know what a beta test is or what would happen if we chose it..confusing for sure.

Thanks for sharing your concern. We want this to be a comfortable space for you and our other members.
We have made some changes to EP to make the site more user friendly. When you are logged in and viewing one of your own posts, you'll see 'me' listed as the author. Any other member viewing your post will see your username listed normally.
We're working to better communicate these changes to member and also giving all members the option to preview these changes and provide their feedback while they're in their early stages of development. You can do this by visiting your account settings on your profile page and choosing to to turn on any one or more beta tests.
