Mature Profiles.

Yes I have a mixture of mature and non mature stories on my profile. I always ensure that stories unsuitable for under 18's are flagged as such. I'm an active member and contribute to EP via stories, comments and questions etc.

I have now lost my Meebo chat function because my profile has been reported by some do gooder or maybe someone seeking revenge!!!. Now I shall have to become a supporter to be allowed this privilege. I only have a small circle of friends and did only in fact chat with one person in particular and now I can't.

I'm so annoyed to think there are "purple head profiles" or "ghost profiles" with no activity or stories are allowed to have Meebo and contribute nothing to EP. The truth is these "ghost profiles" are exactly where the sex pests and such like are hiding. It is nothing to them to delete their account and create a new profile. I have shared lots of experiences and would hate to delete my account in order to regain the chat function.

"Please note that this member has been flagged by the community as having mature content on their profile. Please block and/or report them if they behave inappropriately".  WHY?? does having a mature profile mean that I should act inappropriately more so than anyone else on EP!!!

Rant over...now my suggestion is.

I'd like the possibility to buy back my chat function via tokens which are rewarded for making contributions to EP. Also maybe that upon registration everyone needs to earn the "privilege" of chat in the same way by earning tokens. This may stop the number of sexual predators and trolls who are here only to annoy and flag those for no good reason than to cause trouble.

    I want to thank you for taking the time to share these ideas. I can understand why you're frustrated to have lost your chat feature, which we make a premium feature for mature members because of the extra community support/service costs associated with these accounts.

    We know the current chat system we have in place is not perfect (and this issue along with the bugs that meebo chat often encounters can making using the system quite frustration. That's why we are now working with our developers to build a better system for member-to-member communication across EP.

      I don't exactly understand what extra costs are involved with "extra community support/service".

      Do you know if mature profiles will be affected by the "new system" or shall we not be allowed the free use of chat?

      Arsineh, sorry I think your explanation about extra cost is bullshit. I understand that you need to make profit from site - but i guess that pushing people to become paying members is somehow contraproductive and you risk them leaving EP.

      And besides distinguishing if someone is mature member based only on fact if someone was flagged and reported or not not is not fair. There are many people with lot of mature content that are not yet flagged and can chat.

      Besides those people with mature content that act as real adults - they are polite, flag their stories etc. - are in my opinion the core of EP. Because - you know that well I believe - that sex sells (see how much of your ads are for dating services etc.). And I guess you are risking to scare away the best members you have - the active and responsible ones by this forced upsell ....

      Cannot edit my previous comment so here few more thoughts - There is a huge difference between having contributor that is active, polite & that has correctly flagged mature content by himself and between the trolls, perverts etc that behave inappropriately. First one are big plus for EP, second ones are obviously not. But by this rule you are treating both groups same. It allows to misuse flagging as revenge if someone is offended by some normal comment (e.g. validly pointing out in that someone is pervert or does not show respect in their comments, stories etc. or disagreeing by some strong statement). And it does not support to have authentic and supportive members - it does in fact kill discussion. Because if I know I have majority of mature stuff posted and want to keep chat i will be extra curious not to annoy someone that can easily take revenge on me and report me to rob the chat function from me. So i agree to punish some people my removing chat - that can be used for trolling - but not the ones with matre content but only those that behave inappropriately. Howgh!!

      Only see how many users below 18 (usually those without any stories and with default blue head avatar) are posting (mostly stupid) questions in mature topics category

      I applaud you Sir for your support and valid comments you have made regarding this topic. I 110% agree with every word.
      EP wake up please!!! and see how this site is being manipulated by those who don't actually give a sh*t about it.
