Get A Sneak Peek: New Q&A Section-Coming Soon!

As always, the team is working hard on a lot of different things right now. A lot of us are heads down working to continuously make the site faster. Others are working to improve the site section by section to add and update features and functionality to make things easier to use for everyone.

One of our most popular sections of the site is "Answers" and an update has been a long time coming… and a long time in the works, but we wanted to make sure we were getting as much feedback as possible and looking around at all the potential spaces we could maximize for users.

After working through things to hopefully make it easier to use and improve functionality, I want to walk you through some of the key updates / upgrades / and changes we made based on feedback we have received directly from users:

1) Option to Respond to Answers: We have updated things to give members the ability to respond to other members who posted answers to your questions. So many of you have been frustrated by limited options available and found private messaging and whiteboard scribbles to be a hassle -- which totally makes sense. ;) With this change, you will be able to post comments/responses to each answer posted by commenting directly below each answer!

2) Answers Always Valued: Frustration abounds when you come across a closed question because you didn’t have option to share your answer, right? Well, we have set it up so that now you have the option to respond to all questions, even if a best answer has already been selected.

3) Get Notifications For New Answers: Many members were receiving helpful and interesting answers to their questions-but what use is an answer if you don’t know it’s been posted to your question? We’ve now added answer notifications, meaning you can choose to ‘subscribe’ to a question and receive a notification every time an answer is posted and when a best answer is selected.

4) Better Search and Filtering Tools: We have so many interesting and thought provoking questions posted each day and new filtering tools will help you discover specific questions that are more likely to interest you. You can choose to view questions and answers by categories, subcategories, open/closed status, and more. We've also moved the Search bar to the top of the landing page to make this process even easier.

5) Easier to Post A Question: It’s now easier to post a question with our larger ‘ask a question’ text box.

6) Interesting Posts Now Easier To Find: You’ll now find interesting questions and answers more quickly by checking out the Most Popular, Most Discussed, and Most Recent questions, all of which are available on the Q&A landing page.

7) Clean Up:  Clutter can slow down the site and make it more difficult to maneuver that’s why we’ve cleaned up the Q&A section making it faster, easier to use.

8) Suggested Questions: We help you find helpful answers to your questions, faster, by showing you a list of related questions.

9) Question Stats: We have so many great questions being posted that it’s sometimes difficult to decide which to answer, don’t you agree? To help--We now show you more relevant information about question like when the question was asked, how many answers it has received, and whether or not the question is open or closed.

10) Top Members:  This regularly updated list which appears on the Q&A landing page is a fun way to meet other EPeeps who regularly contribute to the Q&A section in a positive way.

These are just some of the many member suggestions we’ve used to create the new Q&A page. Check it out for yourself, below, and please tell us what you think and report any bugs or glitches you find. You can send me a PM directly, leave a comment, or email EP Support.

With no further ado, here’s a link to the NEW Q&A: EP Link

Congratulations. EP is the best among the communities I am participating on the Internet. Your regular impovements cause EP to be more and more useful, attractive and informative. Long live EP and creative admin staff!

Why isn't the extend expiration date working in the new version? Why do I have to switch back to the old version to do it effortlessly? <br />
<br />
3 days is too short for me. I usually make my questions a month. I rarely wait that long, though I almost always choose a best answer after 5 days.

Put the Members name above their Avatar so they are instantly recognisable.<br />
<br />
And be able to see who is online now.

I love them all! especially #10 - I'm going to make that list. . . . <br />
<br />
The one thing you didn't mention changing is the new style - which I hope will change again soon. . . do we really need a little (cluttering) box telling us that each question is a question? And can we not get a nicer logo for Q&A? it is the most popular place after all :)<br />
<br />
cheers! and thanks! Your always doing so much - I love that Ep isn't static, but constantly seeking to improve. :)

I almost always use EP on my mobile device, but since the format has changed, I am unable to post any answers to questions. Can EP help me? Thanks!

They are very positive changes and I commend your team for their efforts and expertise.... well done !

With the new layout I can't really answer anything, I log on EP from my phone and if I click in any button by mistake, automaticaly send me some where else, looks like mobile users can't participate at all

I think there is a bug in the new version? It seems I can't see the open groups questions, they show in the old version, but not in the new, no matter what kind of filter I use. What's up with that?

love 1 and 2 as you can do this on most forums so it will be more user friendly

Is there an option to delete answers that you find offensive to you? A lot of people seem to be very negative and rude lately to the point where I'm debating on deleting my account. I should not have to defend my character or be talked down to or degraded when asking for help. Please take this option into consideration for the future. Thanks.

we're taking a look what you guys are saying and evaluating each suggestion. thanks so much for the feedback, we sincerely appreciate it and are listening!

I like the status notification about whether a question in open or closed. But I noticed that in the new version, when I click on members answers it takes me to the start of the questions, whereas the old version to me directly to my question. Alot easier the old way.

K testing it out and I don't like the suggested answers setup. I fond it funner to go back to current questions. If that particular feature wasn't automatic it might be ok.

I've tried it out for some time now and I do have some comments/suggestions... :)<br />
<br />
1) <b>Options to respond to answers</b>: I haven't tried this one out, but I'm sure it's a big improvement.<br />
<br />
2) <b>Answers Always Valued</b>: It seems this option is nice, but if that is the cause of the list of closed questions that appear once you've answered an open one, it seems to me as a partially failed option. I suspect people (including me) expect to see suggestions for open questions, perhaps it's even better to highlight questions in the same category that have no answers at all.<br />
<br />
3) <b>Get Notifications For New Answers</b>: Thank you for this one, it's a nice addition.<br />
<br />
4) <b>Better Search and Filtering Tools</b>: I love it, yet I don't like it that it's annoyingly difficult to get back to the filtered results after looking at or answering a question. The easiest way to go back is by hitting the 'back' button on my browser. Why not have a bar or a link at the top?<br />
<br />
5) <b>Easier to Post A Question</b>: Thanks for this addition, but I didn't find anything wrong with the old method. I do like the ability to edit answers. Thanks for that one!<br />
<br />
6) <b>Interesting Posts Now Easier To Find</b>: See 4, again after finding one, you need to either press 'Back' on the browser or do a new search. Having a navigational bar-thingy, is something that I'd really like to have back.<br />
<br />
7) <b>Clean Up</b>: Now with even more closed answers visible. (Sarcastic remark, couldn't resist). I don't really see any difference in speed.<br />
<br />
8) <b>Suggested Questions</b>: I suppose it's the lists of open and closed questions below the answers of one. They're a nice addition, same with the navigation of categories on the right.<br />
<br />
9) <b>Question Stats</b>: I don't see how they differ from the previous version.<br />
<br />
10) <b>Top Members</b>: I'm wondering how you define "<i>positive way</i>"...

I am trying it out now. I especially like the fact that I can now edit my answer without deleting the whole thing and reposting.

Ahh... the ol' "make more room for the ads" trick that came to fame with the new Stories layout.<br />

It looks very professional. XxX Akwagrll

Yes, the related questions. You click on one question and you get a string of questions all asking the same thing. D'oh!

what questions are all the same? you mean in the "related questions" box? or somewhere else?

I don't like it. All the questions are the same.

i like these, but there was always one thing I wanted to be able to do.... I wish we could pick more than just the 'best' answer. The 'best' answer isnt always the 'funniest' or even the most applicable. I would like to see a member voted 'best answer' as well as 'best answer' as chosen by asker, as well as a 'favorite' best answer as chosen by asker. In this way, the most popular answer would be recognized, the most helpful answer would be recognized (as chosen by asker) and, if applicable, the funniest answer could be recognized. Or maybe thats just too many awards for one question, but I have wanted these options since joining. <br />

You've come up with ways to better my Experience and more. Good job!<br />
<br />
Now<br />
<br />
How many EP users does it take to better ....???<br />
<br />
Jus Kiddin<br />
<br />

yes, that's being done. on the topic, choose one of the following:<br />
<br />
1) question is about to expire: 24 hours before the expiration, the question asker is notified to select an answer.<br />
<br />
2) when question expires, a best answer is automatically chosen and question asker is notified. question asker can now go review the best answer, and select a best answer that replaces it if he/she wants to.

A site for gay girls and bisexual women so we can talk

@asevan, yes you will get notified if you are subscribed to a question and the "best answer" is selected.<br />
<br />
good suggestion with answers with most votes bubbling to the top. we'll work on that.

oh yeah sounds greattttt love it keep up the good work!!!

This is great. I'm so happy you took into what we've said into consideration. Great job EP!

I love # 2. But I don;t like #10. It is not necessary to do so. I think people answer the question cos they like it and know what to answer. It is not easy to choose what meaningful answers are really

Can I ask a question?

It looks really nice! I like options 1 and 3 the best.

Oh, and how do I see what question I asked and answered to? Where is that link? Or is this preview link for people who are not logged in?

I wish the CATEGORY list was up higher so one doesn't have to scroll all the way down to pick a category they like ;(

@Troubleshooter: Or even better, an account setting to always show all comments & answers everywhere all of the time.

I Love it :) 1 and 3 are the best.

I like 1 and 2.

I love #2 (answer closed questions) but I don't understand how to do #1 (easily respond to other people's answers). When I'm looking at a question and its answers shouldn't I see three icons underneath each member avatar? One I click on to add a comment to their answer, one to send them a private message, and one to scribble on their white board?<br />
<br />
#8 (other related questions) isn't enough. There should be a way for the questioner (maybe answerers as well) to link questions together to create a series of related questions with first/previous/next/last question links to navigate thru the list.

wow nice changes:)

Glad you like the changes. We can't take all the credit. All these awesome ideas came from you, the community. Thanks for all the great feedback you guys regularly share.

I can tell you put a lot of work into this, 1 and 3 are fantastic! all of the changes are great but those two are the greatest part in my opinion, I am so exited to go try it out :)

I highly appreciate your thoughtful and tiresome improvements for the convenience of all cpmmunity members. Thank you for this purposeful effort and wishing that EP can serve better and serve a broader and more civilized community.
