Living With Options Not With Fear!

For 20 years I was a professional word processor and 15 years ago I could no longer read the letters on the computer. Determined to learn what was wrong with my vision, the doctor diagnosed me with Retinitis Pigmentosa which means my vision will either become foggy or I will become completely blind. Living with the computer, now what? What are my options?

Well over the past 15 years I went through three stages of growth. First was admitting limitations and sharing them with others who could offer support. This ranged from family to the girl who serves at the deli counter.

The next stage was educating me on how to live in the dark. Rather than living with fear, I spent four weeks at a training center for the blind. The final stage was learning from others who were blind. I joined blind organizations and Internet groups. Keeping my life simple and using products that support this vision, I now plan to write a resource guide for the legally blind.
