I Wonder What Memories They Will Take With Them...

Today as we all worked around the kitchen table after school...I smiled and wondered what memories my children will take with them from our kitchen table...

We share a lot around our kitchen table...it's where we eat all our meals together, where important decisions are made, where family games are played, where the kids have done their homework, drawn, painted and stuck things together, kicked each other (!), made amazing concoctions with anything they can find in the pantry and garden, where heated discussions are started.

It's a busy table...it's rarely clear and neat and tidy...it's where all the school notes and newsletters end up, bits and pieces from broken items sit until I get sick of them and threaten to throw them out...It gets tidied and wiped down frequently but it doesn;t take long before things start to accumulate again...

Today I smiled whilst I prepared the dinner at the table my daughter stood and washed up the afternoon dishes playing her lastest playlist from her ipod in the steroe. My youngest showed me his newest yoyo moves and danced around the table to the music. And my other son sat soldering his remote control car back together...

...I love afternoons like this

No, not in summer. Well there goes Frank Lloyd Wright's theory on the hearth. LOL

Yes EH, it is...although we have a hearth right next to the kitchen table...and it doesn't get nearly the same amount of attention...especially in summer!

It's a bit like a hearth for you guys - the meeting place. Nice :)
