I'm A Nice Guy

I don't know if it's the nicest thing I've ever been told.  Recently, however, both my manager and assistant manager told me that I was a nice guy.  Man, was I flattered.  That's been one of my biggest ambitions since my mid-teens.  I just went out of my way at work, time and again, to help customers in a friendly, respectful manner.  'Course, I've been doing that for 15 years, off and on, so it just seems natural now.  I never ask anyone if they think I'm a nice, decent fellow.  I just show it through my behavior and manners.  To me, being this way has its own reward.  It doesn't really help me land a better job or to get the girl, but being a nice guy is important enough that I won't bend my values very much to gain personal favour or rewards.  I'd rather be myself.

Thank-you for the compliment. I'll try not to let it go to my head, he writes as he sits, blushing, at his computer.

Thank-you for your comment. I couldn't agree more.
