Staring At The Sun

There's a line that repeats in the movie "PI", it is "When I was six, my mother told me not to stare at the Sun, so I did" and I did the same thing.  Mathematics have driven me mad more than once so I really identified with the character in the movie.  There's a lot of crazy mathematicians though.  I did break away from staring at the sun after just a little while, but I was six, and I did have to try it, because I was told not to.  I had this strange idea that if I stared at the sun long enough, the illusion of reality would go away and I would know truth like Buddha or something.  Yes that was actually my line of thinking at six years old.  I was a precocious little weirdo.
