Doorways To Other Worlds

When I was a kid I could not for the life of me distinguish between dreams and reality.  I think this may be normal and account for some of the weird **** kids say.  They literally can't always tell the difference between imagination and reality.  I rather envy that state now.  Although I do sometimes approach it, I have to drag my rational mind over the coals to do so.  Anyway on with the story...

There were these dreams I had where there were doors in places where they do not actually exist in reality.  Opening them would go places which overlap with other places.  Like there was a trap door in the floor of the attic with a metal ring in it and when you opened it up it would go to this place which couldn't possibly be there, between the 2nd floor of the house and the attic, a space of only a foot, somehow there was this whole extra floor.  But I thought it was real and I kept going to look for it over and over again, and felt the same strange feeling of loss every time I discovered it was not there.  Also in the backyard in my dreams there was repeatedly a gate in the fence between my yard and our neighbor's which is not actually there and I searched for many times only to meet disappointment each time.  Yet in dreams it is always there.

Reminds me of 'Alice in Wonderland' or 'Chronicles of Narnia' with that secret door to another reality.  I thought they were real, and felt like I'd lost something very important to me when I discovered they were not.
