Elementary School

All I remember was all the teachers and faculty crying and sending us home from school.  We lived about three or four blocks from school and I remember picking up the newspaper from the walkway to the front door.  It had the first color photo I'd ever seen in a newspaper, and it was a true "Extra" edition.  I walked in the front door and my mother was doubled over and sobbing.

I was six years old at the time, but those little impressions were strong.  All I knew is that everyone loved him and it seemed that the hope was lost along with him, even at that young age.

I wasn't born yet when he was shot, but I do live only ten minutes away from Dealy Plaza!

I was 2 and 1/2 when JFK died, but I have a vague memory of my parents and uncle crying - it was the first memory I ever had of my family crying.
