Labels.. La La La

My best guess is this; people fear the unknown. People want to have control over something. Labelling someone gives them this.

I really hate labels, myself. And I think we're getting worse when it comes to just slapping a label on someone. We're becoming more like products than people. If that even makes sense.

what you are seeming to misunderstand is that judging or having prejudice is a necessary part of life. The true idea of liberal education is to know about all of the labels and prejudices, and then learning about when the prejudice is justified and when it is abstracted and subjective to the point of holding no truth in it, and being abused for nothing more than political power, with out justice.
