What I Learned

I just finished a class in human nutrition. There are three main reasons people tend to over eat. The first is genetics, most white people are from colder regions of the world so it is in there genetic DNA to put on the fat. The second is our taste, we like the flavor of fats and calories. And the last is the quantity of processed food we eat, processed foods are chemically altered to be addicting.

I learned how we can even learn to eat less in the right way to lose weight. As you may have guessed one of the things we need to change in our diet is the eating of processed foods. If people simply made meals from scratch rather than buying them from a store we would not be so bad off.

However there is more we need to do. We need to learn to eat fewer calories and far less fat. I am not saying we have to cut the out because we need both, what I am saying is the average person only needs between 2000 and 2500 calories per day. If you want to lose weight you need to eat less than that. The only problem is that in order do that you lose many of the vitamins that are needed.

To help with that you need to take a malty vitamin. Not just any old malty vitamin, one that is made with natural minerals and binders like those found in GNC vitamins and other natural health food stores. Personally I have been doing this for about a year and have gone from 330lb to less than to less than 270lb.

I have managed to reduce my calorie to about 1200 to 1500 per day. I only eat meals I have made myself. I drink mostly water with the occasional glass of tea, milk or small soda. In the next month or so after my next blood test to make sure I am not lacking anywhere in my health I pan on reducing my calorie intake to 800 to 1000 calories.

Many of you at this point are asking if I make everything at home how do I know how many calories I am eating. Simple, I weigh, measure and count what I eat and drink. Many people look at a package of food and read the label. If that is all your eating this is fine, however if you are going to add something to it like ketchup, mustard or anything, you have to add that to the numbers on the package.

Take a cheese burger pre-wrapped bought in a store. Say that cheese burger has 400 calories with 170 calories from fat. Now say you want to add the works to this cheese burger. If you add ketchup (35 calories), mustard (15 calories), mayonnaise (79 calories) you have to add them to the cheese burgers total calories. Adding a drink requires the same.

You want to know what amount of food has how many calories? Look at the package. At the very least they tell you how to find out. You can even try a web sear or even try one of these sites http://www.fitclick.com/how_many_calories, http://www.fitwatch.com/caloriecounter.html, or http://www.myfoodbuddy.com/calorie_counters.htm. These sites list many of the everyday foods most of eat already along with some most do not.
