It's A New Lifestyle....

Two years ago I lost about 40 pounds with weight watchers. I felt great and like a new person. Slowly since then I turned back to some old habits. Stopped following the plan. Had a hysterectomy. And wow I gained back all but 2 pounds! And so I have begun the quest again but this time with my husband. I learnt alot whilst doing weightwatchers and some of the habits have stayed with me, such as going to the gym.

We decided at the suggestion of our Doctor to follow the South Beach Diet and after two weeks on phase 1 today we move on to phase 2. Although we have tried this before I was never truly dedicated. This time I am wholly committed. I have cooked many new recipes and tried many new foods. I feel so much better, no migraines, no insomnia and no heart burn. In the first two weeks we have each lost about 10 pounds. Now as we reintroduce healthy, whole grain carbs we should lose about 2 pounds a week. We make sure to drink plenty of water and to have a snack between meals. I try to keep the refrigerator stocked with lots of veggies and salad items. I prepare the night before for the next morning and take my lunch to work everyday.

I have a total of 57 pounds to lose to reach my goal. I don't miss the foods I've given up and what this plan boils down to is healthy eating. I don't count or measure so I don't have those obsessions with "how much more can I eat today".

Hopefully I can reach my goal by the end of the year!

Thanks and you are correct. It's ok to spluge once in a while!

Yep, boils down to eat heathy and workout at least an hour a day. I have lost 70 lbs in two years and realise I will have to live a healthy livestyle for the rest of my life. I have been know to cheat from time to time, but if you burn more then you eat you will lose weight. Keep up the hard work and good luck on achiving your goal.
