    Hey Adam,

I'm Ryan and I have recently come out to my dad as being trans. I'm kind of in the same boat but there are no FTM specialists in my area and money is an issue for me. I'm working on getting some binding shirts but am concerned they will not compress my DDD breasts so i'm working on getting the money together for a reduction to start with and also to drop weight and get into the air force but I have to hide being trans for that. So what you need to do for T is get your primary doctor to refer you to an endocrinologist. that's what they are gonna make me do.

I've worked in the LGBTQ community for the past few years unfortunately the largest group in the area doesnt do too much (1 event a year) and the second largest group was founded by me and a close few friends. I've been going to counseling since I was a child and have come out to my therapist as trans 6 years ago. I've mentioned numerous times that I've been wanting to start hormones and transitioning all to no prevail. It seems no one in my area is willing to help me. I've tried to find a doctor who would be willing to start me on hormones but that has also turned up no such luck. The doctors listed on a FTM web-site there are only 2 in my area. One is moving away and the other I called the receptionist told me he only deals with fertility and not with trans.

I suppose I'm looking for both someone who might be able to help me who has transitioned and knows the resources I may need or even just a friend who accepts me as a male or someone who might be questioning their own self.

So, exactly what are you looking for? To meet other people whom identify as transgender, or for people to accept you as masculine?

I can certainly understand how this situation is ever so frustrating and upsetting. I can only imagine what it would be like. I work with a person whom identifies as transgender, and she has been living as a woman for a while. the situation is upsetting to her as well, but I have noticed that as she grows more confident in the image she presents as a woman the more people acknowledge her as a women and not a boy. I think, but am not sure, so please correct me if i am wrong, that much of the transition is believing your self to be a man or a woman.

Have you spoken to any doctors about hormones or any types of medications to assist in the transformation? i can definitely understand that this is an extremely difficult and delicate situation that requires a lot of commitment and dedication, with loads of ridicule and segregation.

I would encourage you to connect with your local LGBTQ community and see support and guidance. And, if all else fails, don't ever hesitate to let me know if you need any help :)
