I Was There.

24 November 2005 will live on in my mind for the rest of my life.  It was the day I lost two very good friends.  SPC Marc Delgado and SSG Steven Reynolds 2nd Platoon 170th Military Police Company.  It was our second tour in Iraq and Steve had already made it through one tour.  We got a call on our down day to run a mission.  All we could think about was damn another day off ruined.  Turns out we were going to the hospital someone was hurt from our platoon.  We got to the IZ and waited for more news, we found out Marc had died and they had his body in the morgue at the hospital.  We were allowed to go in and see him and say our final good byes.  Steven was MIA.  We waited for hours to find out that they finally found his body, he was dead.  It was crushing, two friends gone at the same time.  One other soldier injured, medivaced to Germany and one of our favorite interpreters injured and being worked on in surgery.  It was not a very thankful Thanksgiving Day.

I too am sorry for your loss. It is the kind of pain that lives forever, although dulls with time. But the loss is always there. <br />

I know I watched my father pine for his brother who was KIA in WW2 for over 50 years. We so need to remember them, and continue to pray for these Guardians of Honour, yes, and those still serving placing themselves in harms way for our country and for us.

I'm very sorry for your loss. You are a great friend to remember them.
