Mint!

As much as I like other herbs, such as rosemary, basil, thyme, etc. my favorite is mint. Yes, I know it has a vicious habit of taking over herb gardens, but I can't bring myself to mind too much. Mint tea is my favorite and I have wonderful memories of going outside to my grandmother's herb garden and picking mint so she could make me tea. I'd then pull up a chair as she'd talk to me as she moved around the kitchen. As I got older, she'd have me do it, patiently teaching me. And somehow what began as a simple request always turned into a wonderful conversation where I learned, laughed, and grew. I loved those moments and I still treasure them today.

    I just started some mint in my inside/outside garden boxes along with thyme, parsley and holihocks. I also have veggies and strawberries growing. I put them outside on sunny days and bring them in at night.

    I love mint; I use it to make tabbouleh. I also love it on buttered carrots. I will dry some for tea this year...thanks for the reminder!

    Smile. My grandma had mint growing outside the back porch at her home. It grew by a faucet that leaked a little. It smelled so nice damp and minty. There were also hollyhocks that grew tall in the same bed. I can picture the scene in my mind. Your comment brought back wonderful memories.
