Mansfield Park

I am currently reading Mansfield Park by Jane Austen. It's the first Austen book I have ever read. I do like it but in the sense that it evokes emotion. Though those emotions are mostly negative. I honestly want to hit Mrs. Norris. Fanny is a prude.  I do like William & Edmund even though Edmund is a bit of a prude as well.  But I like that it makes me feel. And despite the fact that I have a love hate relationship with Miss Price I do want to find out what happens to her & for her to be happy. From what I understand she marries Edmund? That's another thing. If that is the case...****** is not best. I know it was another time & that happened a lot but ew. I know that's a little childish, but whatever.

You can't read Jane Austen in the context of todays values, it has to be read in the context of the time, place and social values. Might I suggest you do some research into the society of Jane Austen, and the position of women in the 18th Century.

Her "Northanger Abbey" is also great!

I haven't read this one of hers but you should definitely try reading Pride and Prejudice. It is truly superb!! she is just so witty. ahhhh. and she was only 21 when she wrote it!!<br />
