I Want to Roleplay As Other People's Fantasy Sci-fi Loves
One Day I Created This Elaborate "Roleplaying Game" That Was Never "Field Tested"...
The premise was that people would get together in a group and each would attempt to design characters they knew their friends would be romantically interested in. (I came up with many variations on the concept). In atleast one, after you filled out a character sheet fully describing the character, the sheet would be given to another participant to roleplay that character when becomes necessary. Then after that's all set up, people (going around the circle) would get to have one interaction with one character (you say something and the character, which can be either a normal interaction or an attempt to "pick that character up") each time around...
The whole thing determined success by "scoring rules". Everytime someone interacted with a character, the designer of that character would be rewarded with a small number of points (I think the rolepla
Then later (to address some of the inherent shortcomings of the concept) I came up with the idea of using chatterbots or computer scripts instead of human-roleplayed characters... The problem with -that idea- is that it takes days and days to even start to make a bot that even starts to be suitable for the purpose (high "overhead") but the benefit is -impartiality-. You'd have code inside the script (for example) where if the user mentions "food" or "cooking" for example, that a "counter" gets set higher. Or... If they talk about "horror movies" for example, the counter is lowered. Then when they DR (Date Request) her, the counter is used to determine what the answer's gonna be. Since all this happens internally, you don't know how well your doing unless there's code in there that has the character say "Yeah, I like that too" or "Please don't bring -that up-" (which is totally up to the author)
In any event, a fascinating concept (atleast to me)-- just needs a brilliant guy or girl to come along with "a gangbuster idea" to make the whole thing feasible... What a way to get to know your friends though... I even thought about an online version, which is a very good idea cause then suddenly you can unite people who have the same, um, desires but are over great distances away from each other... Yeah, a website is definitely the way to go.. And then there's no limit to the types of characters that could be created. Could be "the girl next door", a three headed alien, an intelligent cooking appliance of the future... whatever...
