A Thank You of Sorts

Dear husband,

Though our marriage has been extremely rocky and tumultuous at times, I thought I should write you this thank you letter. I would like to express my gratitude to you for teaching me the following:

1. Thank you for calling horrible names and demeaning me regularly. I want you to know that though I was broken, I realize now that they are just words and will not be hurt by them from anyone else.

2. Thank you for abandoning me each time I needed you the most. You made me realize that I am strong and don't need to rely on a man to take care if me.

3. Thank you for allowing me to raise our children virtually alone while you resided in our home. This has taught me that when I move out that I can provide for them just fine on my own.

4. Thank you for isolating me from my friends and family for the last few years. It has reminded me how much they truly mean to me and that I will never let that happen again.

As you can see there are many life lessons you have taught me. I am a believer that there are lessons to be learned each and every day and from each and every person we encounter. I can only hope that I have taught you something too.

Your soon to be ex wife
