I Want to Share 100 Things About Me
1. I like to make Halloween costumes. The best one I ever made was a doodlebug.
2. I bite my upper lip when I concentrate.
3. When we first got Guitar Hero, I could hardly play the second day because the inside of my lip was so raw.
4. I always thought I would outgrow rock-n-roll
5. I like to flirt with men on the phone when I am at work, especially when I call the bank. I can hear them blush.
6. I bite my lower lip when I am pleased.
7. I like the sound scissors make when I am cutting out pattern pieces on the table.
8. I'm not just making up this list on the fly, I've been working on it for a couple of days.

10. I wake up at 2 am and can't go back to sleep at least once a week.
11. I have a friend that recently changed to the midnight shift as a dispatcher for the police dept so I have someone I can text at 2 am now. It's not so dreadful to be awake in the middle of the night anymore.

14. One day, I heard a very loud noise and went outside to check it out. The Fame soundtrack was blaring from the outside speakers on the house behind mine. I had a very clear picture of my neighbor vacuuming and singing and dancing, totally oblivious that she was entertaining the whole neighborhood.
15. The first apartment that Mr. Poppins and I lived in had a really great balcony. One night we were sitting out there and smelled a funny, familiar smell. Our downstairs neighbor was sitting on his balcony too, smoking a joint. He was on his balcony most evenings.
16. We had another neighbor at that apartment complex that would practice the piano every evening. He was really good.
17. We didn't go out much when we lived in that apartment.
18. I always wonder about people and I like to hear their stories.

20. When I was a kid, my grandpa would take us to the park or the pool or his farm when we would visit. He was the only grown-up I knew that knew how to play.

Everywhere we went, we would take detours by the crush of the day's house. I have no idea how she knew where all these boys lived, but we would do drive bys all the time. I don't actually remember getting anywhere, just driving.
31. My kids constantly say "Mom, why do you have to be so weird?"

67. One night when my daughter was very young, she was saying her prayers and she told God, "thank you that my mommy is so pretty." I am almost sure that I felt the same at that moment that a beauty pageant contestant feels when being crowned winner.
68. I am watching myself grow up. He is a little too sensitive to word choice and tone. He overreacts. And he has compassion and tenderness that flow out of him easily and from a depth that is immeasurable. Watching him learn and grow, I am forgiving myself for so much.
69. I was running out of ideas at this point so I asked Jane and Michael for help. They suggested I include some of my signature sayings. I didn't realize I had signature sayings, but here they are: "She/he/that is frightening." "that is flippin awesome." "oh, that is so sad" (apparently, i say this with a pouty, baby voice). There were a few more but they were laughing so hard at their imitations of me, that I didn't understand a word they were saying past this point.

83. When I explain things I give a very detailed description of what I want the end product to look like and leave the process to the person doing the job.
84. I think someone is sending me Hockey karma, because all of a sudden my oldest wants to play. I don't even know if it's legal to play hockey in Texas.
85. I have stretchmarks all across my stomach. I try to hate them, but my kids gave them to me. They remind me of a macaroni necklace that mom's wear proudly, not because it's pretty but because it means something more.
86. I had one job where I dealt directly with the public. In my employee file there were numerous letters and noted phone calls from people who thought I was amazing. There were also just as many letters and noted phone calls from people who thought I was the rudest person they had ever met. My boss asked me why I thought this happened. I told him it was easy. Some people have real problems and I am happy to help them, some people have stupid problems. That's when I got moved to the accounting department.
87. Sometimes, I don't like to stick to the planned menu and I make what I like to call "Mommy Surprise." For the most part, it turns out really well, but the few failures have been so horrible, that people in my house wince when they hear those words.

89. I read to my kids' classes. I love to act out all the characters and I love getting to a tense part and closing the book and saying "see you guys next week."

92. When I was a kid, i used to love watching my mom and her 4 sisters-in-law doing dishes after a holiday dinner. They laughed and talked and had the best time in my grandmother's tiny kitchen.
