    That's why you tax the rich--to force them to give back to the economy, to keep everything circulating. I think that is the theory.

    I think at least some of it gets tossed. In any case, it changes hands which keeps things moving. .

    If you give it to those at the bottom it won't be tossed around, it will be used to pay debts.

    Give it to those at the bottom. Let them toss it around for a while, let it change hands and multiply in the form of goods and services and let everyone have a hand in the process. The rich will inevitably get richer, but maybe the poor won't stay poor. It's worth a shot.

      Yeah--right. Odd how that has never worked but people still keep claiming it will. If the rich get richer, where the hell is the money for the poor going to come from? Every time the rich get richer those riches have to come from somewhere. And if it's not coming from the rich, it5 HAS to come from everyone else.
