Please do...copy and paste and print and put in in your locker, fridge, cubicle, desk, screensaver...Spread the word. That's all I really wanted to begin with. Learn from my mistakes, shake off the bad, pick yourself up and dust off your shoulders. Look in that mirror and love what you see. Teach it to children AND adults. Show by example. Leave your impression, leave your fingerprint in every soul you encounter..for not me, for yourself :)

Some of the BEST DAMN ADVICE EVER ..

"Don't start anything until something is over. Don't leave a trail of destruction behind you thinking you'll never revisit again. You might not physically, but mentally you will....over and over. Keep your pride and be the better person. Give two weeks notice, tell your significant other that it's not going to work, tell your family that you don't feel it's in your best interest to remain in contact. Do it diplomatically. Be the positive and wonderful person I have told you throughout my time here on EP. Keep your dignity intact. Let people miss you. Don't ever give someone the right to hate you because of something stupid you said or did. Leave them with your shoulders back and head high."

Wow.. I mean wow.. If I ever had an "AH HAH!" moment it was just now when I read this.. especially the part of..

This sounds like something Dr. Phil or Dr. Drew wouldv'e stated. Hope you don't mind if I steal this and instill these VERY WORDS into my children. You are a very wise man!

you have no idea how true your sage advice is. I too burned many bridges in my younger and more impulsive years. I even am a little ashamed to say that I even tried to burn one last year, and the person I had been hurtful to, was so much more a better person than me, she wouldn't allow the bridge to be burned. we are currently in the process of re-building this bridge into one that i am very hopeful will be even stronger now.

I totally agree that although we may never physically go back to that awful time when we hurt someone we claim to love, we will find ourselves revisiting the scene of the proverbial crime over and over again. For the record I would change my name on here as I have also worked through the very confusing time i spent these past few months, and although I have nothing against gays or lesbians, I still feel like i can say with pride that I am straight

This reminds me of a quote I recently came across "Let the bridges I burn light the path to my future" or something like that. You know that I am a total peacemaker, but I do think sometimes burning that bridge is the best thing. You don't have to be mean about it, but there are some things in life it is just not good to go back to. Not ever. Hugs my friend.

Great Story --- Very common issue I think.

I have burned way too many bridges and agree not a good idea.
