Schooling

I dropped out of high school because of social anxiety and got my GED (aced it).I want to go back and get my HS diploma mainly to shake off my self imposed negative feelings about being a "dropout".

I did the same thing. But it is a diploma. With mine I'd like to go to college and get a nice career. You shouldn't feel so bad. You accomplished something major! :)

The average age of a Community College student?<br />

Lets see ... they MAY have dropped out of high school at 15-17 worked hard for 8-10 years and then hit that glass ceiling they just can't seem to get passed due to not enough Education, Certification, Training and/or Experience <br />

So they go back to school at night and get a GED. Average time to acquire that GED through part time studies is TWO years.<br />

They show up at college all fresh faced and around 27 years old.<br />
<br />
Don't be so down on yourself. Getting your GED was a perfect first step. <br />
<br />
You do not need to "go back and prove it" to anyone.<br />

Perhaps you should goto college instead. <br />

You will thank yourself later ;) if you do!<br />

Don't worry about it, you will fit in regardless of your age or experience. Remember there are those unfortunate people out there who never come around to the idea that education is useful at any age.<br />

*CAVEAT* Please under no circumstances go back to school and try and relive your "lost" teenage years. It will not turn out well. They were not lost, you were doing something else. Those people you went to school with are gone and no longer teens either. Its time to move on.<br />

You are not a drop-out. You just took time to deal with the issues you had to face at the time. No wrong there! And you are finding what it takes to go back. That says something. Dont put yourself down. Feel good about what you are doing today and use yesterday to show you how far you've come.
