I Want To Stop Drinking

I've drunk nearly everyday since i was 21. I was married and i used to hide booze outside so my wife wouldn't find out. Then when she'd gone to bed nip out and drink it. When on holiday with my parent i'd always make sure i had some booze and hide it for when everybody had gone to bed. I'd always turn down alcohol in front of them. I'm now drinking three bottles of wine a day and have been for the last five years or so. I once had a year off the booze and felt great and lost seven stone. If i don't have any booze in the house i feel on edge, looking at my watch to see if the shops have shut. If i say to myself i'm not drining tonight i alway make sure i have some in, just in case. I'm fed up of drinking, my house is full of empty bottles, i've let the house work slip and yes i'm now divorced. I need to stop before it's too late. I know the from experience that the first week is the hardest and then it gets better. Can i do it ? I'll let you know, but tonight is my last night of drinking......

Hi

I have just admitted my alcohol issues to my family and close friends and thats the hardest thing to do.

You need to read Allen Carrs book, Easyway to control alcohol. This guy knows how to communicate with addicts. Thanks for sharing your story. You are a brave guy! X

I can certainly relate. I am only 22 years old but I've been an alcoholic since age 18. I'm quite successful for my age. However, alcohol has destroyed my personal life and all of my relationships. I was sober for almost a year until my girlfriend left me. Every day now it seems I have no energy, extreme anxiety, and I struggle through the day just thinking about how much I cant wait to go home and drink. This too will hopefully be my last night of drinking. Good luck, and you can do it.
