The Help - - - Kathryn Stockett

Absolutely the best book that I've read in a long time. Takes place in the 60's, in the South. It reveals the relationship of  white women homemakers and their African American maids. It's a heartbreaking yet triumphant story. The maids meet in secretive meetings with a white journalist to tell of their experiences as a maid working for a white woman. The journalist wrote a book and sets this small, southern town on it's side.

The movie was good, but, a little long, I should have read the book, the book is always better. :)

I know it was amazing, I read it a little while back. (:

Sounds like a perfect read. Right now I'm reading the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy series for the first time, but I'll be done in like 2 days. I'll be sure to share about how I liked it once I've read One Thousand White Women.

If you've not read "One Thousand White Women" you must read it! Excellent book, takes place in the 1700's. The marriage of white women to the native americans and the horrible results!

That sounds awesome. I really want this group to get more members and stories on it so I can get suggestions about what to read whenever I can't think of anything!
