Watch My Back by Geoff Thompson

Being a martial-arts buff myself, I decided to read this book after an EP friend recommended it to me. Wow... Just wow... I don't have adjectives strong enough to describe the experience. So I'll just say - You don't have be a martial artist yourself to enjoy this absolutely fantastic piece of work.

If you scratch the surface of civilization, you have anarchy. This book reveals a less-known facet of our society and hits you smack-dab in the midst of your comfort zone. The author, Geoff Thompson, worked for ten years as a doorman in some of Coventry's most infamous nightclubs and shares with us several gems of wisdom transmuted from the sleaziest sewers of humankind. Most importantly, he recounts his own personal transformation in conquering fear. At times, this book reaches that high level of (non-religious) spiritual fervor you won't find in so many pseudo-spiritual self-help books.

Geoff Thompson has also written many books describing specific sparring techniques (like Wrestling, Grappling, 'The Fence', etc.), but somehow I'm uncomfortable with the idea of learning how to throw a punch out of a book. So no comments about the other manuscripts.

But this book... Well, if you haven't read it, you're definitely missing something.
