I was supposed to have a job interview today, but just as I was getting ready to leave, the recruiter called to tell me management was "busy" today and wanted to cancel.

At least I hadn't left home yet.

I have mixed feelings about it. I need a permanent job with benefits. My contract job ends after December.

This job I was going to interview for is about 120 miles north of where I live now. I have lived in that area before, and pretty much liked it. My only two complaints: high housing costs and heavy traffic. But if the job was good enough, I'd move. In this case, they weren't offering quite as much money as I wanted, but I've done this before and when that happens I usually manage to wangle something else out of them.

On the other hand - I can't help thinking they didn't want me all that much if they just cancel at the last minute like that. Maybe they've already decided to go with another candidate.

The recruiter said he would call me later, presumably to reschedule, but I'm not holding my breath.

My only gripe with my current contract job is that it's not a permanent job with benefits. I like the people I work with (shout out to IT security dudes!) and I like my assignments.

And another factor in this whole situation: in a way, I want to find a job that takes me out of town - about a 2 hour drive away. Close enough to come home for weekends, but far enough away so that I need to live away from home during the week. For that purpose, this job I was going to interview for today would have been perfect.

So....I am still continuing to apply for other jobs. At least I have the rest of the day off. Let's see what kind of mischief I can get into! [g]

I wish you good luck , it just might be that interviewer genuinely had some other emergency , have had that happen to me and then a long wait (3 weeks) before it got scheduled again , once again good luck my dear

I'm sorry honey! Stay positive! Keep your eye on the prize of finding a job two hours away lol

good luck with both :D :)

Bummer! Best of luck in your search. I hope other possibilities will open up.
