How We Re-created Our Careers To Work From Home, And Be Able To Travel With Our Work

I had been a Registered Nurse for 23 years. Although I loved helping my patients, I really did NOT love the restrictions on my lifestyle. Nursing involves schedules, and time clocks, mandatory meetings and continuing education, a few weeks vacation per year, bosses, supervisors, and I was done with all that.
Plus my husband and I had set a goal that we wanted to be able to travel extensively well before the age of retirement. Our grown kids are all over the place, and our restricted corporate worlds did not give us the flexibility to spend as much time as we wanted, where we wanted, and when we wanted. But nor were we financially independent to be able to just get up and go.
So we re-created our work lives. We both took about a year working our same jobs, while also starting new careers on the side. I started my home-based business. I had one false start that didn't work for me, but it was a great learning experience. Then I found the home-based business that I love. Now I can take my business with me wherever and whenever we go. All I need is my cell phone and computer. Now every day I get up excited to work (working hard for yourself is very different than working hard for your boss!). I am growing my team of other people who want the same freedom and independence in their world, and working with like-minded people is awesome.
We are soon to leave for our long-term travel, in a beautiful Class A RV, and have no time-frame. It may last a few months, it may last a few years. We will be spending a couple months in each city our kids live, staying in RV Resorts that luckily, in Tampa, Breckenridge, Portland, and California, our kids picked fantastic places to live. We also want to see the states, including going to Alaska, and Canada, and Mexico. We have both successfully set ourselves up so we can work and travel at the same time.
Where there's a will, there's a way. I've come to believe that we are the creators of our lives, it is up to us to make our life our masterpiece.
