It took JK Rowling 6 years to fully develop Harry Potter, before she could present it to the publishers. It has taken George RR Martin about 20 years with his Song of Ice And Fire series. I don't even want to guess how many eons it took JRR Tolkien with the entire creation of Middle Earth.
These examples are supposed to show us the truth. Writing a book is not something that can be done in a short matter of time, especially if you are new to writing. It may take years, and even decades. You have to be patient with it, because your work is your baby and you have to give your baby as much room as he needs to grow. If you try to do a quick job, you will end up with a shoddy work.
It took me a long time to realize this. When it took me over a month just to write a basic outline to the book, I was discouraged. But now I know better. I am willing to wait as long as possible to make my book perfect. Because this is not going to be a number of pages with words written on it. It's going to be my art, my baby. It is going to be a reflection of me.
