The Barrens

She came to me out of a fog one day
Battered , lost and full of hunger
And I gave her a safe harbour
I held at bay the winter's storms
 Secure against my gentle shore
With all I had I filled her hold
Every goodness this land could unfold
She sailed away over the horizon
and left a barren land behind
She'll only pass this way once
as the lost so often will
She left behind this rocky coast
so rocky then , so rocky still

this was quite good. i could feel "you". it wasn't like a canned recital of a person. it held meaning that anyone could find themselves in. thanks for sharing....
