No One Gets Out Alive

No one gets out alive

No matter how well we thrive

No matter how strong our will to survive

No one  ever gets out alive

You can't just take your ball and go home

You can't have a do over,

Can't wish the bad stuff away

Can't sit on the bench

when you don't want to play

No one  ever gets out alive

Can't take your **** with you

when it's your time to go

But still

No one gets out alive

our memories do not survive

Memories of us live on in others

Our children, The people we truly did love

Or who loved us with our knowledge or not

No one gets out alive

Such power we hold over others

to create their ghosts of things unfinished

Of making their lives seem somehow diminished

No one  ever gets out alive

Unintended results  from delusional decisions

made from well reasoned thoughts

Applied through arrogance

with such confident precision

and yet

No one gets out alive

No matter how well we thrive

No matter how strong our will to survive

No one  ever gets out alive

My favorite kind of poems are those that are concise, averting to beat around the bush... And you my friend do just that! Was this loosely meant to be in iambic pentameter? Half or more of your lines hold between 7-10 syllables making it have a distinct shape <br />

And the content..simply AMAZING!
