Deaf

I was born deaf, in fact I was deaf for the first 5 years of my life. I basically spent 9 years in and out of hospital with problems with my ears. Apparently when my mum brought me home after my surgery she had to go round and turn things like the hoover on and the washing machine because I had never heard them before .The doctors couldn't explain what it was or why, they managed to restore my hearing to a certain degree I can't really remember how they did it. But they said that it wouldn't be permanent and eventually over time my hearing would deteriorate which it is doing now I'm 27 but it has taught me a lot though there were good things that came out of it. I can lip read which is really funny because when I used to go into a bar with really loud music everyone couldn't hear anything and I was the only one that could communicate with anyone plus its amazing what secrets you pick up when people think you are to far away to hear them. That's why I take could care of my eyes they are my ears, also I have very sensitive feet as long as I have no shoes on I can feel so much vibrations. I also am about to start sign language courses so I can teach my daughter how to sign should we ever need to but the main reason i would like to become and interpreter for the deaf so a new career may come out of it to.

How do u read lips? Teach me!

It's something I learnt from an early age. Not being able to hear I instinctively learnt to watch peoples mouths. It's something I continue to do as my hearing is slowly going again it helps me. The only advice I can give is when talking with people watch their lips when they talk. Get to know mouth shapes, also have a look at your local education courses. Lip reading is a course you can take just look on the internet for courses in your area. Hope this helps

I WISH I CAN READ LIPS MOST OF THE TIME. FOR SOME REASON I CAN TELL BY BODY LANGUAGE. SOME PEOPLE TELL ME ITS AN GIFT. I ALWAYS SAY YOU HAVE TO BE AN OBSERVANT PERSON. YOU HAVE AN AMAZING GIFT. SO WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THAT?<br />
