It Hit the Bike

It was two days before the first day of fifth grade. I was riding my bike with my dad, when we came to an intersection. The people in the left turn lane in front of us had the green light when it was our time to cross, so we let the guy go, before we started off. When we got about half way through the intersection, the light turned green for the perpendicular traffic. I remember seeing a white car coming at me, and very vaguely grabbing the brakes on my bike. It turns out the car slammed into my front wheel, which swung around, and the handle bar smacked my back. I was flung off of the bike, landing face down on the street. I swear, if it weren't for that helmet...

I missed the first day or so of school, and was walking funny for a couple weeks. My right knee was bruised so badly, that I couldn't straighten it, while my left leg had multiple scabs that formed when it was straight, so I couldn't bend it. It was a very odd hobble I came up with, but I got around. I had to miss all of the first times we played games in the PE part of the day....
